This guide will help you discover how to unlock and maximize the lifespan of your Bixpy motor battery. With appropriate practices and maintenance, you can ensure the longevity of your battery and enjoy more time in your underwater exploration!

Stay Away from Trickle Charging

The battery packs sold with your Bixpy gear are made of lithium batteries, which cannot be trickle charged. Just charge your battery as necessary to keep from completely depleting it. The chargers that come with our batteries automatically shutoff and will not continue to charge after that point, so you do not have to worry if you accidentally leave it plugged in longer than you meant to. However, it is still important to not leave them plugged in too long, so be sure to unplug them once charged.

Don’t Tamper with the Battery

Batteries should be handled carefully, so we have designed our system so that at any sign of stress or issue it will shut down. This prevents fires and overheating, keeping you and your gear safe. If you have issues with your battery, please reach out to our support team for help rather than trying to take it apart and do it yourself; if you tamper with the battery this also voids the warranty on your products.

Stick with Bixpy Gear

Our batteries are not meant to be charged with anything other than the chargers we provide. Trying to use another charger will damage your gear. On the flipside, you cannot use another kind of battery in place of the battery we provide with our gear. Again, this will damage your equipment so be sure to only use Bixpy branded items.

Take Care of Your Gear

First and foremost, before starting to charge your battery make sure to wipe off the charging ports and verify they are safe before plugging in your gear to charge — you don’t want any water or debris in there! It is a good practice to always wipe down your battery after a day on the water to protect it from wear and tear due to dirt and debris. Be sure your battery is also secure on your vessel before heading out; dropping your battery in the water can cause some serious damage not just to the battery itself but also the cables and other parts it is connected to. When transporting your batteries or storing them, make sure they are not in the “on” position. Also keep in mind that the battery will lose charge over time, so even in storage in the off position the battery will continue to slowly drain.

Do not store a drained battery, and do not let your battery completely run out of charge when using it. To store your battery, charge it first and then charge it again fully every 90 days until you are ready to go back out on the water with it. Letting your battery drain completely can cause it to permanently shut down, so always keep an eye on how much charge it has.
